PACIV PUERTO RICO: Susan G. Komen: Race for The Cure

Puerto Rico Associates demonstrated their support by doing a 5K race to raise awareness for breast cancer fighters.

The Susan G. Komen 5K Race for The Cure is a fundraiser where you can race or walk to show your support in funding life-saving research, treatment, education, and community health programs. Their mission is to “save lives by meeting most critical needs in our communities and investing in breakthrough research to prevent and cure breast cancer.” To this day, Susan G. Komen has invested nearly 1.1 billion in breast cancer research since 1982, united with 30 million breast cancer communities, gave 220 thousand financial assistance and support, and mobilized 100 thousand to advocate patient’s rights.

PACIV associates met on Sunday, October 10th at 9:00 am to start their 5K route. Many ran, some walked, and others combined the exercise, but all had the same goal to reach the finish line and comply with their support to cancer fighters and survivors plus, we all had our pink accessory as part of our running gear.

After a good exercise, refreshments were necessary! We had a special lunch box made with healthy snacks and jump rope to continue a healthy lifestyle. Also, we had a table where we had water, juices, and fruit salads. After the refreshments, we had a little get-together in a close-by restaurant where we even sang Happy Birthday to associates celebrating that day.

This event was one to remember. We enjoyed our time together, and most importantly, helped make a difference by joining the Susan G. Komen, race for the cure; “One person can make a difference”.
